Obituary of Jacqueline Joan Pires

Jacqueline J. ‘Jackie’ Pires, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully in her home in Sun City Roseville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Dorothy Pina of Onset, Massachusetts and her husband of 56 years, Roland J. Pires Sr. Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts she graduated from Wareham High School in 1948. She married Roland, July 30, 1955 and moved to California where she worked for the state of California in various agencies and positions, retiring as an Executive Officer for the Housing and Finance Agency after 42 years of service. She graduated from Sierra College with an Associate degree while employed for the State of California. During her retirement years, Jackie was involved in various clubs in Sun City and enjoyed entertaining family and her large circle of friends and neighbors. She also liked gambling trips with her longtime friend Jeannie Stribling. She was very active in the St. Peter and Paul’s Ladies Guild and the Red Hat Society. Jacqueline always cared for others and was selfless in her support of family and friends. She will be forever remembered by her two children, Kathleen (John) Swan of Bakersfield, CA; Roland (Sheri) Pires of Granite Bay, CA; grandchildren, Roland J Pires, III, Jennifer (Shaun) Luttrell, Justin and Dylan Black; great grandchildren, Jalen and Dominic; her sister Lois Patterson and nephew Alan of Columbus, IN. As per her wishes, services will be limited to immediate family. Her final resting place will be Calvary Cemetery, Citrus Heights, CA. In her memory, remembrances can be made in her honor to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and St Jude’s Children’s hospital. “One day at a time”, “Enjoy every day you have”
