Wayne! Thanks for sharing your beautiful love story and so much history. I appreciate this warm and endearing tribute to a wonderful lady just the same. Harriet blessed not only me, but this entire crazy world in many ways. I had no idea, but I'm not surprised one bit. Thank you Harriet, for a life well lived. And, may God bless you, Wayne, as you travel the rest of life's highway.

We moved to Roseville from China in 2014. I always remember the way Harriet gave a huge warm welcome every time we see her as a neighbor. Harriet is such a simple and kind person. She wishes nothing but good for her friends and almost anyone she sees. May she rest in peace. What a precious soul!

Harriet, you will be missed. Russell and I only hope to have as wonderful a marriage as you and Wayne had. I will truly miss our conversation. You had the ability to make whoever you were speaking to feeling important, that is a special gift. You also had the hugest heart. Especially for animals. I will never forget the time you and the kids tried to save a cat.

I thoroughly enjoyed a deeper, personal and intimate look at Wayne and Harriet's wonderful journey! Harriet always greeted me with a huge smile and warm embrace. Both Wayne and Harriet have always made me feel like family since I moved here. The memories I hold dear in my heart I will always cherish! This is a huge loss for all that were fortunate enough to have called her a dear friend. She will be greatly missed and my thoughts and prayers go out to Wayne, family, friends and all of those impacted by sweet Harriet's passing. ♥️

What a beautiful tribute to our good friend Harriet. Reading her life story touched me and her commitment to excellence inspired me - to do what I am not sure at this stage in life, but Harriet was awe-inspiring. Our paths crossed so many times in life - from Mira Loma High School where I was a freshman when Harriet was a senior, to the SF concerts at Avalon Ballroom, Winterland and Fillmore West. We both lived in Orangevale and had a horse - similarity ends there. My horse Cindy could hardly move and I could hardly ride! Although our paths crossed many times, I did not meet Harriet and Wayne until 4 years ago at the Almond Tree. We spent so many fun nights at the Tree, listening to Wayne sing those killer songs and dancing with Harriet. She had the warmest smile and hugs and was always so friendly to me. When Lisa and I brought our mother to the Almond Tree in Mom's later stages of Alzheimer's, Mom woke right up when she met Harriet because they both retired from McClellan AFB and had lots to talk about. I always appreciated Harriet spending time with my Mom. They are both at peace now, unafraid in these uncertain times. Thank you again Wayne for that beautiful glimpse into the life and heart of Harriet.

I’ve taken a few days to think of what I wanted to say. Even though I hadn’t seen Harriet in years losing her still hit me hard. She was always so full of life and energy it’s hard to come to terms with her loss. I met Harriet when I started working at McClellan in December 1985. I was stuck in the office answering phones while she was off to the warehouse with her notebook but we became friends and started hanging out together at work. Harriet was a smoker; I wasn’t. During our time at McClellan the rules for smokers changed sending them outside to smoking areas. I remember her asking me to join her during one of her smoke breaks. Reminding her I didn’t smoke she told me she’d give me a cigarette to hold. I don’t think we fooled anyone but I held it until she was finished with her cigarette. When she was finished it was back to work – no wasting time for her. Back then she was still eating meat and once in a while would come up to my desk and say ‘I feel like a grease-burger’. Those were served at a small burger stand up on Watt Ave. So off we’d go at lunch time for a ‘grease-burger’. They really were ‘grease-burgers’ but they tasted so good. I remember the time she loaned me some dresses for an event I needed to attend. I was more into the denim skirts, she was more sophisticated so she made sure I was dressed for the occasion. I remember meeting up with Harriet and Wayne on a trip to Nevada to see the Ichthyosaurus fossil in the ghost town of Berlin. I remember going with them on an exploring trip up Hwy 80 to the ruins of an old sawmill. I left McClellan when it was put on the closure list transferring to NPS at Yosemite. When the IT office there did an email switchover they deleted my old account before I had a chance to download all my contacts. I lost email addresses for all my friends and co-workers at McClellan. By chance Wayne and I managed to reestablish contact via Facebook but unfortunately I didn’t make the time to connect in person with the two of them. Hindsight is definitely 20-20. Somewhere I should have some photos and I hope as we unpack from our recent move I’ll be able to find them and share the memories. Hugs and kisses for you, Wayne.

Sonny & Cher, Ozzie and Harriet, George and Gracie are all great couples that come to my mind and Wayne and Harriet are right up there with them! Wayne’s eulogy and celebration of Harriet’s life through his written words and the many photos posted of the timeline of their life together illustrates his deep LOVE and commitment for her. Ying and Yang - Soul mates. How do you say goodbye how and do you let go? Answer is you don’t .... love does not die - it is infinite and through our Savior Jesus Christ and his promise to each and every one of us that we will all be together again in what will feel like a blink of an eye. I send my heartfelt condolences to my brother Wayne who is my brother-in-law Tom’s brother actually, but in the Hopkins family I have always been treated like and referred to as their little sister. Stand tall and strong Wayne, she’s not far away. Love you, Chrissy.

Being Wayne's youngest brother I grew up with him and Harriet. I was 14 when they were married. Harriet got out of her graduation gown from high school and got into her wedding gown for their wedding. Then after the wedding Wayne spent the next day working on their car so they could drive to Florida where Wayne was stationed in the Navy. That is their start to 53 years together. I remember doing a lot of things with the both of them as I grew up. One thing I did with Harriet was learn to drive to get our driver's license at the same time. I can't remember why she didn't do that earlier. We would take a trip to the country open spaces and while Wayne took pictures Harriet and I would take turns driving the old green Pontiac Station Wagon. So Harriet did have an impact on my life growing up. I will miss the way she cared for people, animals and plants in the garden. She did not do things halfway. It was hard to watch the Alzheimer's take away the Harriet we all knew and loved but knowing she is in a better place now is comforting.

This is a great tribute to my Aunt Harriet. As a child there were only a few Christmas or summer vacations from San Diego that I was able to spend with her. I do remember looking at big beautiful model homes with her and Uncle Wayne. That was SO much fun!! We also made a trip one time to an art museum where I learned about Bev Doolittle. Amazing Artist. I am very thankful for the 9 years that I lived in the Sacramento area. It allowed us to spend more time with each other. We were able to celebrate birthdays, holidays and special events together. These times and memories mean a lot to me. I am here on vacation for a week and it definitely is not the same without you here. You will be missed. I love you Aunt Harriet. <3 HuGz

Aunt Harriet, so thankful for the summers I was able to spend with you and Uncle Wayne. San Francisco trip in ‘89 or ‘90 just before the big earthquake. Deep dish pizza and looking at Alcatraz from across the bay. I remember getting a rock with a fossil in it and you helping me meticulously pick through and brush away the rock to reveal the fossil. Thank you for your patience as we ran around with Uncle at the arcades and mini golf. The love you showed my children will be remembered and cherished. Playing with Ivy at the park by the zoo when she was a baby and the mall play area. Your strong, fierce personality, and love for animals will never be forgotten.

I don’t have any pictures that I own of me and Aunt Harriett but she was hands down one of my favorite people in this world. My childhood was influenced for good by her and I got so lucky to be added to this family and be related to her. I had an obsession with bubble gum as a kid. I remember every time she would come visit and she would always bring me and the other kids bubble gum and we’d have a blast together. She was so classy and I always loved how sweet she was to animals. Whenever she and Uncle Wayne would come to visit I would love taking pictures with him and then showing Harriet all my photos. She always seemed interested. Even in the last couple of times I saw her I felt like we could still have a connection and she still was so attentive and kind. I loved her very much and I hope she is happy and peaceful now. All my love, Ali
