Obituary of Daniel Wayne Steffel

Daniel “Zeke” Wayne Steffel died peacefully in his sleep on June 13, 2021. He will be fondly and tearfully remembered for his relaxed yet hilarious nature, captured well by a favorite phrase, “Take a chill pill.” Dan, or Danny, was born to Marjorie and Wayne Steffel on February 5, 1953 and very proudly hailed from Salem, Ohio, where he grew up with his siblings Lance, Holly, and Teddy. He was known for his athleticism (especially baseball) and his willingness to make beer runs to neighboring West Virginia. Dan graduated from Kent State University and his wanderlust led him to various states and a career in radio and tv sales. He eventually landed in California and loved to torture his four children (Lauren, Danny, Alison, and Eric Steffel) by locking them out of the car and making loud, inappropriate jokes, but also making them laugh, coaching sports teams, providing a sympathetic ear, and bribing them to athletic feats of greatness with cash rewards. He was a loving and caring father, son, sibling, uncle, and friend who cherished time and laughter with those most important to him, and will be profoundly missed. A celebration of life will take place for family and close friends on Saturday, July 24, 2021 in Morgan Hill, CA. Please contact Lauren Steffel at [email protected] if you would like more information.
