Obituary of Dorothy Irene McGlynn

Dorothy Irene McGlynn, nee dePina was a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She completed her Earthly journey and slipped peacefully into immortality at the age of 97 on the evening of June 2, 2021 at 9:20 pm, surrounded by her family at home. Dorothy was born to Herman and Jennie dePina on August 11th1923 in Brooklyn, New York. Dorothy attended New York City Textile High School where she studied design and art. She was a skilled craftswoman who donated her time and efforts to her church’s charity, Holy Trinity Episcopal on Long Island. Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, James J. McGlynn on August 12th 1945 at Christ Chapel in Brooklyn and were married for 46 years until James’s death in 1991. Dorothy took great pride in keeping house and enjoyed many social activities with friends and within her community. In August of 2020, she left New York, and moved to Roseville, California to live with her family. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James, and brothers George and Herbert de Pina. She is survived and remembered by her loving sister Gladys Kelly nee, dePina and her husband Erwin and their children Timothy, James, and Jennifer. Dorothy was a beloved aunt to her many nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces and will forever be remembered in their hearts. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
