Obituary of Teresa Ann Martin

Teresa Ann Martin, 53, of Granite Bay, passed away on March 30, 2018 in Granite Bay California. Teresa was born in Alamosa, Colorado to Walter and Epi Gallegos on September 12, 1964. Teresa grew up in Santa Fe, NM where her family moved to in 1969. After graduating from Santa Fe High School in 1982, she attended 2 years of college at University of New Mexico. Teresa moved to Sacramento in 1984. She met the love of her life Gary Martin in May of 1994 and they were married on May 26, 2000. She and Gary worked side by side in the mortgage lending business, which Teresa excelled in with her keen organizational skills and meticulous work ethic. She continued in the mortgage banking and real estate business for the last 20 years, holding such positions as Office Manager, Senior Processor and FHA Underwriter. Teresa was also an owner/agent in the family business, Rio Grande Insurance. Teresa loved the outdoors. She took advantage of every opportunity to live life to the fullest. She was a certified scuba diver and dived in Belize, Fiji, Cozumel, Cancun, La Paz, Cayman Islands, Honduras, Europe and Hawaii and other locations all over the world. She never backed down from an adventure and enjoyed sky diving and snow skiing. When she wasn’t outdoors, she loved to unwind with a good book or movie. Teresa and Gary loved to travel and incorporated many humanitarian relief efforts when they traveled to Fiji with their children Derek Sawyer and Macy Martin-Sligar. Teresa was a warrior and was a breast cancer survivor of nine years. Teresa is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Epi Gallegos, her brother Michael Gallegos. mother and father in law Ken and Jean Martin, her sister in law Kay Gallegos Teresa is survived by her husband Gary, of the family home, son Derek Sawyer and daughter Macy Martin-Sligar both of Granite Bay, brothers Glenn Gallegos (Vicki), Denver, CO. Tom Gallegos, Santa Fe NM, Walter(Mamie)Denver, CO. Sisters Michelle Padilla Espanola NM, Maria Pacheco (Steve)Las Cruces, NM. Grandchildren Ethan and Makenzie Sligar, Granite Bay, CA.
