Mike Galia

Obituary of Mike Galia

Michael Joseph Galia passed away as peacefully as possible from lung cancer December 9th, 2022 at the age of 73 in Lincoln, CA.   He leaves behind his partner of 13 years, Mary Yeargain, a beloved and talented daughter, Tamara (Tami) Galia of whom he was so proud of, her mother Lauren Galia, brother Walter Giss, aunt Mary, cousins, Mike and Bill Ziebron, Marlene Voss, nieces Kristy and Lori Bodary, nephew Thomas Bodary  and numerous friends from Michigan to California.  He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents Frank and Faye Galia, brother Larry Bodary, sister Patrice Hayes, his biological parents, Walter Lipka and Alnora Covrea.

Born as Michael Walter Lipka he spent his young years in an orphanage until being adopted by the Galia family at age 9 where he also got a new grandma, Gertrude and sister Diane. He played football, ice hockey, loved Motown, but coming from the Detroit area never did like the snow.  Mike had numerous professions and his best were in front of a camera as a model and acting or behind a counter whether it be a bar, his own business or his last job at The Sun City Lincoln Hills fitness centers. He loved his customers and always tried to make it a better day for them anyway he could.  An avid football fan, especially of the U of M, “GO BLUE” and wherever Tom Brady was playing, you would find him in front of the TV cheering them on.

He traveled back and forth to California 4 times with the last time staying for 13 years. He moved to Sun City Lincoln Hills in 2016 and found his forever home.  He loved to garden, play golf, lay in the sun, go to the concerts, trips to Tahoe and his job.  The people he met became friends and he had his “tribe” he thought of as family. As a devout Catholic he got involved in St Joseph Church and once again found another place he felt at home making many new friends as he became closer to his maker.  He is now truly at home in GOD’s hands.

His funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Church at 280 Oak Tree Lane, Lincoln, CA on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 10am (PST) It will be live streamed for those who cannot attend in person. Here is the link.     https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-_3cYTI_ZyGhepIJQ5Q5tA/live
