Obituary of Paul Arthur Pechin

Paul Pechin, of Roseville, born March 3, 1948 in Long Beach, CA, died peacefully on January 20, 2022 after a brief illness. He was in the company of his wife, Rebecca (Becci) Pechin. In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters Melanie (Jeff) Parr, Kathleen (Mike) Angelone, four grandchildren, and brother Warren (Betsy) Pechin. He was preceded in death by parents Eber and Marguerite (Hall) Pechin. Paul grew up in Bakersfield and graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1966. He was proud of being a Driller and was active in high school activities and sports, including playing on the varsity basketball team. Paul graduated from Fresno State University in 1973 with a degree and teaching credential in Mathematics. After moving to Northern California shortly thereafter, Paul began teaching and was a well-respected math teacher, Math Department Chair, mentor teacher, and consultant for over 40 years. He always said that he had the best career possible. Paul enjoyed golfing, doing home projects, and traveling in his motorhome with his wife Becci. He especially enjoyed attending live sporting events. A highlight was attending the Rose Bowl football game twice in his lifetime, but any live sports event - especially baseball was a favorite activity. Paul’s greatest joy, however, was spending time with family. He cherished many special memories of camping and traveling with “his girls” and supporting their activities when they were young. They, along with his grandchildren, were his pride and joy. Paul will be missed by his many friends and family. For those who wish, the family suggests contributions be made to one of Paul’s favorite charities: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online at stjude.org.
