Obituary of Nayomi Kaneko

Nayomi Okuno Kaneko was born on Kitagi Island, Okayama, Japan on the seventh of December, 1941. She passed away surrounded by family on the eighth of June, 2023 in Rocklin, California. Nayomi has now joined her father, Narutaro Okuno, mother, Fusa Okuno, and brother, Matsuo Okuno.

She lived her adult years on Oahu, Hawaii and Northern California where she partnered in raising three children, Donna Quesenberry, Sandra Kaneko, and Tina Weekley. Nayomi was also a grandmother to Jessica Kelly and Mia Medrano, and great grandmother to Liam and Oscar Kelly.

Along with her children, Nayomi’s passion in life was – golf. She thoroughly enjoyed getting to know people on and off of the golf course. Wherever she lived, many neighbors knew her by name. Family members would often hear how kind and friendly she was. In addition to her love of golf, she enjoyed taking long walks and going on hikes, all with an amazing sense of direction and place.

Nayomi will be remembered as a lively talker, tireless worker and risk taker. She was also unconventional and not afraid of breaking rules or adhering to social norms. Nayomi will be deeply missed by many, especially by her family.
